Nickern Castle

Nickern Castle is located in the southeast of Dresden near the B 172 in the Nickern district. The complex stands on the remains of a moated castle from the 12th century.

It was in the hands of the Karasse family, who came from Coswig (Saxony) (Karrasburg). Later, the bourgeois Ziegler family was among the owners. They were very wealthy and also owned Lockwitz Castle. The Ziegler family is also associated with the Gamig estate. In 1511, the Alnpeck family acquired the castle. During this time, it was converted into a Renaissance castle. The Alnpecks were very influential in the area. Their coat of arms can still be found in the old Leuben church today. Under Hans von Bose, a conversion to rural Baroque took place in 1693. The castle only received its tower in 1870.

In 1945, the last owner was dispossessed and apartments were set up in the castle. In 1960, a fire damaged parts of the complex. In the 1980s, club rooms were housed in Nickern Castle. Today it is again in private ownership. In addition to a restaurant, the castle also contains rooms that can be rented for private events.
