Neuhaus Castle

Neuhaus Castle is located in Neuhaus am Inn directly on the border with Austria on the banks of the Inn river. In the 14th century, it was built by the Bavarian dukes on a rock to protect the Inn bridge of Schärding. From 1750 to 1752, it was rebuilt in the Rococo style, presumably by master builder Johann Michael Fischer, according to a chronicler. The client was Court Chamber President Ferdinand Reichsgraf von der Wahl.

The castle experienced numerous changes of ownership. In 1859, it was acquired by the Institute of the English Ladies from Burghausen for 9000 guilders from Princess Auguste von Auersperg.

The extension built in the following years was connected to the old building in 1902/03 by architect Johann Baptist Schott and master builder Capellaro with a neo-baroque church, which served as a parish church until 1974.

The two volute gables on the side wings are striking on the three-story castle. Today, the institute maintains a secondary school here.
