Mockritz Castle
The origin of Mockritz Castle lies in a manor house, which was mentioned in 1198 as being in the possession of the Lords of Mockritz. In the 14th century, a moated castle was built on pile foundations. These still exist today as the foundation of the castle. In 1590, ownership changed to the von Pontzschmann family. They rebuilt the castle in the Renaissance style. In 1663, ownership changed to the von Dürfeld family. In the 18th century, the south wing of the castle was altered. Further owners were the von Eltz family in 1719, the von Hardenberg family, later Baron von Lorenz, and in 1854 the von Schönberg family. From 1916 until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945, the estate was owned by Elisabeth von Schönberg. In 1993, the descendants of the von Schönberg family were able to buy back the property and renovated it.
