The castle in Michelbach an der Lücke dates back to a moated castle from the 10th century, owned by the Lords of Schwarzenberg, and formed the oldest settlement core of the village with four original farms. Destroyed after the Battle of Herbsthausen in 1645, the castle was rebuilt in its present form in 1709. A Catholic chapel once stood in the castle courtyard.
