Meldegg Castle

The Schlössle Meldegg is a castle in Beuren an der Aach, a district of Singen (Hohentwiel) in the Konstanz district of Baden-Württemberg.

The castle presumably emerged from a moated castle, the origin of which is unknown. The castle is first mentioned in writing in 1568, but it is likely that the Lords of Bodman-Möggingen already had their seat here in the late Middle Ages. Between 1554 and 1677, the place was owned by the Lords of Reichlin-Meldegg, to whom the popular name Schlössle Meldegg goes back. In 1663, after the marriage of Anna Reichlin von Meldegg, the estate fell to Johann Baptist von und zu Hornstein, after which the owner changed frequently. In the 19th century, the complex was redesigned, with most of the outbuildings such as barns, stables and farmhouses being demolished. Around 1847, an inn with a mill was built on the site, which existed until 1982. Today the castle is located in a garden complex and cannot be visited.
