Lustbühel Castle

Lustbühel Castle is a castle in Waltendorf, the ninth district of Graz. The early Baroque castle is located on Graz's Lustbühel, where Bühel means hill. Before its construction, an estate stood on this site. It was built in the first half of the 17th century and elevated to a noble residence. An exact date is no longer preserved today. After renovations in the first half of the 18th century, in the 19th century, and in 1907, the castle received a new appearance through historicist architectural elements.

The building features late historicist-neo-Gothic stylistic forms. Particularly noteworthy are the stepped gables, the tracery portal, and the crenellated tower in the southeast. The wrought-iron window grilles also date from 1907. Lustbühel Castle includes a two-aisled vestibule with Neo-Romanesque marble round pillars. The sandstone warrior busts on the gate pillars date from the early 18th century. Today, the premises house, among other things, a kindergarten.
