Loifling Castle
Loifling is first mentioned no later than 1150 as a Hofmark (manorial estate) and as the seat of the Diepoldingian ministerialis Hermann von Lewflingen. The well-preserved moated castle of Loifling also dates from this period.
In the 15th century, the Hofmark passed into the possession of the Barons von Poißl von und zu Loifling, in whose possession it remained until the 19th century. In 1456, the Poißl family built the castle chapel of St. John the Baptist.
The composer and Bavarian court intendant Johann Nepomuk von Poißl also came from the family of the Barons von Poißl.
Since 1988, the moated castle has been owned by the municipality of Traitsching, which has converted it into a municipal cultural center.
