Löfstad Castle, an impressive historical complex, is located in the Swedish region of Östergötland, not far from Norrköping. History+

The origins of Löfstad date back to the 15th century. However, the construction of the current castle only began in 1637 under the patronage of Field Marshal Axel Lillie. The complex was designed with a three-story central section and two two-story side wings, each flanked by towers. A modernization took place between 1670 and 1680, but the castle acquired its present appearance after a devastating fire in the mid-18th century. Around 1800, the then lady of the castle, Sophie Piper, had an English park laid out. The last private owner, Emilie Piper, bequeathed the estate to the Swedish House of Nobility. Since her death in 1926, the castle and particularly its furnishings have been preserved in their original state.
