Löberöd Castle

Castle Löberöd a castle in the parish Hammarlunda, Eslöv, Sweden. The castle was built in 1798-1799 by Baron Hans Ramel. The possession 1635 came by inheritance in the family. After the death of Hans Ramel 1799 inherited his daughter Countess Amalia Sparre the possession. They sold it to her sister Kristina Sparre and her husband Earl Jacob De la Gardie. He was an art lover and straightened in the castle a library. This included 18,000 books, paintings and portraits, valuable works of art and a large collection of manuscripts. After the death of Earl Jacob De la Gardie, the Library was disbanded and distributed to various institutions (Lund University, National Archives, Charlottenlund Palace, Malte Castle and Övedsabbey). The property was divided by De la Gardie in three parts. The majority went to his nephew Earl Axel Axelsson de la Gardie. In 1863 the castle was sold to Baron Otto Ramel. 1917 Oscar Hjalmar bought the possession. Per Mattsson bought 1985 the castle. 1997 bought Knut Ramel the castle. Now was the property owned by the family of Ramel again.
