History of the Castle+

The former castle was first mentioned in 790. In 1607, a new four-wing complex was built by the Archbishop of Salzburg, Wolf Dietrich. From 1707, the castle served as the residence of the Prince-Bishops of Salzburg. After the secularization in 1811, ownership passed to the Kingdom of Bavaria. In 1970, extensive renovation and conversion measures were carried out by the owner Gottfried Lobmayr. Since 1992, the castle has been owned by the Meindl family.
