Kreuth, located in the north of the city of Heideck, with its manor house and agriculture, is now 432 years old. Heideck was pledged to the city of Nuremberg in 1570, and Bernhard Nützel resided here as administrator. During his tenure, he bought fields from the citizens and built a residential house with a barn on the Kreuth property. That was the beginning of Kreuth. Numerous owners appeared who are unusual for this area: a Count of Hamilton, Baron Martellus, Bonnet.
In the second half of the 19th century, the Neumann family, the Eichstätt monastery of St. Walburg, and finally the Princes of Oettingen followed as owners. Kreuth was an ideal place for the education of Oettingen-Spielberg princes. After World War II, Prince Oettingen sold the entire property to Consul Hetzel, Nuremberg, who in turn sold the estate in 1962 to the Bayerische Landessiedlung, but kept the manor house, the actual castle, and used it as a weekend residence. Thus, the castle estate and the agricultural operation were separated.
After a major fire in 1979, Kreuth Castle was lovingly and extensively rebuilt and renovated as an equestrian center and holiday guesthouse. The equestrian center, which has regained much of its elegant charm, is known for its hospitality and the diverse equestrian and leisure activities.
