Klink Castle

Klink Castle was designed by the Berlin architect Hans Grisebach for the Cologne client Arthur Schnitzler (1857–1917, ennobled 1914) and built in 1898. Grisebach worked primarily in the Neo-Renaissance style; the round corner towers and bay window extensions are reminiscent of, for example, the Loire castles of the French Renaissance. The building belonged to the Schnitzler family until their forced expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945. After the war, it housed the municipal administration and apartments. The castle underwent extensive structural renovation in the 1970s and was used by the FDGB holiday service as the "Schloß Klink" recreation home. Today, it houses a hotel.
