The Old Hunting Lodge+

The former margravial hunting lodge was built in the 17th century.

History+

The history of the hunting lodge dates back to the 17th century. It was built under Margrave Christian Ernst and served as a prestigious residence for hunting parties and festivities.

Over the centuries, the lodge underwent various structural changes. In the 18th century, a baroque garden was added, which further enhanced the splendor of the complex.

  • 1687: Completion of the main building.
  • 1720: Expansion of the garden complex.
  • 1803: Secularization and transfer to state ownership.
Architecture+

The hunting lodge is an impressive example of Baroque architecture. The main building is characterized by its symmetrical facade and the richly decorated portal.

Inside, magnificent stucco work and ceiling paintings can be admired, which bear witness to the artistic skill of the time.
