Jellenkofen Castle

To be privately owned

Jellenkofen Castle was built in 1720/1730 as a square building with a hip roof. It was formerly a ducal Bavarian Hofmark in Ergoldsbach. When the poorhouse in Ergoldsbach, used as a hospital by the Poor Franciscan Sisters, became too small in 1872, it was expanded, but additionally, the castle was converted into a hospital for the convent sisters. After patients from the district were also admitted there later, the castle was officially converted into a hospital in 1893. It fulfilled this function until a new hospital was built in Ergoldsbach. The castle is now privately owned.
