Interlaken Castle
On the site of the present monastery, there was an Augustinian monastery, first mentioned in a document in 1133. In 1525, the monastery was dissolved during the Reformation, and its property went to the state of Bern. In 1748, the current castle was built on the site of the former monastery as the seat of the Bernese bailiff.
Today, the castle is the seat of the Regional Governor, various offices, and the court. Since 2009, the castle has been undergoing a complete renovation. The total costs amount to 4.5 million Swiss francs.
