Hülhoven Castle (Oberbruch)

Haus Hülhoven is noteworthy; around 1610 it was owned by Johan von Hülhoven. In 1651, it came into the possession of Gisbert von Hülhoven, imperial bailiff and commander of Sittard (1656-1657). He and his brother also owned half of the Loherhof near Uetterath. The other half of this estate was owned by Johan Speel. In 1654, Johan Ludwig van Olmissen (also Mülstroe or Muelstroe) became the feudal lord of Hülhoven and owner of the house. He was a son of Anna von Hülhoven, daughter of Otto Wilhelm. In its current form, Haus Hülhoven was rebuilt around 1700 by Baron Mulart (also Mulert) von Hülhoven. In the 19th century, it came into the possession of District Administrator and Baron Bernhard Paul Friedrich Hugo von Scheibler, whose descendants continue to inhabit it.
