Hopfgarten Castle

A manor house is mentioned around 1419 as being in the possession of Conrad von Einsiedel. Later, ownership changed to Dietrich von Miltitz and in 1455 to Heinrich von Einsiedel. Until their expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945, the estate and castle remained in the possession of the von Einsiedel family. The castle was built in 1677-79 by Haubold von Einsiedel according to a design by Christian Richter from Leipzig on the walls of a previous building. In 1995, the von Einsiedel family was able to buy back the property.
