Holzhausen Castle
Holzhausen Castle is located in Nieheim-Holzhausen in the district of Höxter, North Rhine-Westphalia.
It has been documented since 1483 that the von der Borch family has been resident on the estate. The family probably acquired the fief as early as 1464. They received the property as a fief from Prince-Bishop Simon III zur Lippe, then sovereign of the Prince-Bishopric of Paderborn. The current estate complex was built in the 16th century. The oldest buildings still date from this period. The farmstead is well preserved. The ensemble is a protected monument. Agriculture and forestry are still practiced on the estate. Public events such as shooting festivals, Christmas markets, classic car meetings, school theater festival days and other cultural events take place on the estate.
