Hohenwulsch Castle

After one estate had been in the hands of the von Wintzelberg family for 17 years, Lorentz von Jeetze united both estates into a single one in 1634. Later, Hohenwulsch was particularly elevated by Field Marshal Joachim Christoph von Jeetze, who is also buried in the burial vault of the church he restored, where his monument is located. From his granddaughter Sophie, married von Levetzow, the von Rohr family inherited this estate, which is one of the most significant in the Altmark.

The manor house in Hohenwulsch was taken over by Friedrich von Levetzow in 1775. From 1803 to 1945, it belonged to the von Rohr family, who had the current two-story brick building erected. The current district of Beesewege was first mentioned in a document in 1273 as Bysewede; Friedrichsfleiß is an 18th-century foundation.

After 1945, Hohenwulsch Manor House had various functions: among others, it served as a party school, agricultural school, NVA training and accommodation facility, from 1969 for VEB Erdöl und Erdgas Stendal, as an apprentice dormitory, and as a children's holiday camp. The current owner is the documentary filmmaker Maurice Philip Remy (films including those about the Amber Room, Rommel, and the "Wilhelm Gustloff").
