Hochneukirchen Castle

Schloss Hohenneukirchen+
Schloss Hohenneukirchen is a castle in the Pinzgau municipality of Neukirchen am Großvenediger and houses the Neukirchen am Großvenediger Archive.
As early as 1126, Herwich and Penno von Neukirchen are mentioned, probably as servants of the Counts of Mittersill. The castle's main parts were likely built around the middle of the 13th century. In 1627, a comprehensive renovation phase began; during this time, the two towers on the valley side were erected.
At the end of the 18th century, a partial collapse was reported, and in 1817, a flat roof was added. In 1958, the municipality of Neukirchen acquired the castle.
