History of the Building+
The former hunting lodge was built in 1660 by the Augsburg Prince-Bishop Sigismund Franz, Archduke of Tyrol. It served as the summer residence of the Prince-Bishops of Augsburg until 1805. After secularization, the castle became state property, then served for several years in private ownership as an inn ("zum Hasen") and schoolhouse, until it was finally converted into the town hall of the market community. Worth seeing is the former house chapel of the Prince-Bishops with early Baroque vault stucco and a green-glazed Rococo tiled stove.
