Herrnried Castle

To be privately owned

The castle was built in the 14th century by the Lords of Eichstett. Later, ownership changed to the Prince-Bishopric of Regensburg. In the second half of the 18th century, a new building was constructed. In 1919, Jakob Völkl acquired the castle, in whose possession it remained until 1958. After that, ownership passed to Rudolf von Poten. In 1967, Johann Federl sen. acquired the castle and the farmstead, which is now managed by his son Josef and his wife Sonja. The castle was sold in 1972 to Willi and Gisela Klühe. After their deaths in 2009, the castle is for sale.

In 2008 and 2009, the castle owner, with the Office for State Monument Preservation, had the castle's roof completely renovated.
