Die Herren von Hellingen und Schott
From 1151, the wealthy Lords of Hellingen are known. They served the Lords of Henneberg. Where they resided is not recorded. Later, the Lords of Schott are mentioned, who in 1515 erected the four-towered and four-winged moated castle in the west of the village and converted it into a palace at the end of the 17th and 18th centuries. In the 19th century, parts of the complex were demolished. The East and South wings, in need of repair, remained.
