Hausen Castle

The former Rehlingen Castle was built in the 12th century by the Dukes of Lorraine. In 1183, the castle was mentioned for the first time. Later, ownership passed to the Lords of Hausen. In the 16th century, the Hausen family provided the bailiffs for Siersburg. However, since the family had already received feudal sovereignty and jurisdiction over, among other places, Rehlingen from the Duke of Lorraine in the 15th century, Erich von Hausen built the palace in 1529. In 1624, the palace was expanded under Alexander von Hausen. During the French Revolution, the palace was destroyed in September 1793. The rebuilt west wing is now back in the possession of the Hausen family and serves as a local history museum and a venue for cultural events.
