Haslangkreit Castle

Haslangkreit Castle is a baroque three-wing complex with a castle chapel and served as the manorial seat of the Hofmark Haslangkreit. It is located in the Haslangkreit district in Aichach-Friedberg.

In 1285, the Gereut Castle first appeared when it came into the possession of Berchtold von Schneitbach. The medieval moated castle was probably expanded into a representative four-wing complex by the 16th century at the latest. Around 1685/70, the castle, which, like the village, was owned by the Barons for almost 500 years and since 1745 by the Counts of Haslang (the last of the comital family died in 1804), received its baroque appearance. The castle chapel of St. George was also expanded in baroque style. The Haslang family produced many important officers and officials in the service of the Bavarian rulers.

In 1840, the comital family of Maldeghem acquired the castle, which they never inhabited. In 1972, the Rössig family bought the building along with two hectares of land for 160,000 DM.

Of the former four-wing complex, three wings are still preserved today. The southern wing and the large outbuildings were demolished, and the moats were mostly filled in. The castle and its park are not publicly accessible.
