History of the Building+
The castle was built around 1700. Until 1839, the castle was owned by the von Hünerbein family. They were followed by the Löbbecke family, and from 1844 until their forced expropriation and expulsion by the communists in 1945, the von Knigge family. Since 1952, the castle has been used as an orphanage.
Architectural Features+
The castle is a Baroque building with a rectangular floor plan and two wings. The main facade is adorned with a central risalit and a richly decorated portal. The interior features stucco ceilings and murals from the 18th century.
The Castle Park
The castle park was laid out in the 18th century as a Baroque garden. In the 19th century, it was transformed into an English landscape garden. Today, the park is a popular recreational area for the local population.
