Hanaskog Castle

Hanaskog is first mentioned in 1308 in the possession of the Knight Ake Ingvarsson. In 16.-17. Century, the castle is owned by the family Walkendorff. At the time of the conquest of Skåne by Denmark, the castle was owned by Anna Citzwitz. Later changed the ownership of Ebbe Ulfeldt. After his death in 1682, the Treasury took Hanaskog over as compensation for his debt possession and sold it in 1700 to the District Judge Peter Rosentvist. 1827 bought Count Carl Axel Wachtmeister the Castle. 1852-54 he built the present castle. In 1891 the ownership transferred to his grandson, the governor of Kristianstad Baron Louis de Geer Jr. and after his death to his son Arvid De Geer. The castle Hanaskog is still family owned and is currently inhabited by Baron Willem De Geer.
