Hallenburg Castle (Schlitz)
Hallenburg Castle was the residence of the Counts of Schlitz and emerged from a manor. The late Baroque castle was built between 1706 and 1712. The plans originated from Louis Rémy de la Fosse. In 1755, the castle burned down and was renovated. Around 1800, Count Karl Heinrich had the mansard roof removed and the Hallenburg extended upwards. Thus, the castle acquired its present appearance. In 1954, the comital family donated the castle and its park to the city of Schlitz.
Today, the Hessian State Music Academy is located in the castle.
