Haidenhof Castle

Haidenhof Castle is a castle in the independent city of Passau. The names of the former municipality of Haidenhof and the current Passau districts of Haidenhof Nord and Haidenhof Süd originate from its predecessor, the Haidenhof.

In 1614, the estate belonged to a Wolf Hayll. This Hayllhof later became Haynhof and finally Haidenhof. Here stood the inn and the small castle, which was built in 1685 by the Passau canon Vigil Graf von Thun. It received its current form in 1790 by court architect Johann Georg Hagenauer with the redesign into a hunting lodge for the canon Leopold Freiherr von Hanxleden.

The small castle is two-story and five-axis, with the three central axes protruding slightly. In the central axis is the round-arched portal, flanked by pilasters supporting an architrave. The windows of the ground floor are designed as half-windows.

In the garden there is a fountain group from the second half of the 19th century, consisting of four children. The outbuildings, an L-shaped farm building and the servant's house, were built in the early 19th century.
