Gröbers Castle
Gröbers Castle is a stately estate in the Gröbers district, which belongs to the municipality of Kabelsketal in Saxony-Anhalt. The property is also known as Villa Knauer.
Gröbers Castle is located north of the village of Gröbers at Lindenstraße 8.
The house was built in 1857 in the Neo-Gothic style for Ferdinand Knauer, who worked as a beet sugar manufacturer. Above the main entrance of the listed building is a medallion depicting a sugar beet and the inscription "This house owes its existence to you". The estate is surrounded by a park. In the park is the former laboratory. Remarkable is the silicified wood used for the construction, which was a waste product in the surrounding mining industry.
The buildings are currently (as of 2011) empty and threatened with decay. The park is overgrown.
