Greifenthurn Castle

The castle is a simple, cubic building with a half-hipped roof. The narrow, two-story annex on the southeast corner was built around 1900. The three-story projection with a two-sided open, cross-vaulted porch on the east corner dates from the 16th century. The facades were redesigned around 1900. The coat of arms stone in the northeast wall of the porch is inscribed with "Friderich Kraschneg von Greifenstain, Lord of Greifenthurn am Hammern, 1715". The late Gothic hall on the northeast side of the ground floor has a two-bay cross-vault with plastered ribs. From the west corner of the hall, a late Gothic round arch portal leads into a three-bay hall. In the hallway above the hall, there is an inscription created shortly after 1600, directed against the Protestants. It is considered an important historical monument from the time of the Counter-Reformation.
