Golten Castle

Haus Golten+
Haus Golten is first mentioned in 1294. In the late Middle Ages, Haus Golten, which was then called "te Boemert", was the seat of the Lords of Pont - according to legend, founders of the castle and the city of Geldern. In 1586, Dutch soldiers devastated the estate and burned it down. The house was not rebuilt until the 17th century. The tower dates from this period. All other buildings are of more recent date. Today, the manor house is used as the administrative seat for the adjacent nursing home.
