Gleinstätten Castle

A castle was first mentioned in 1245. From 1285-1607, the castle was owned by the Lords of Gleinz. They built the castle in 1556. From 1622-70, the castle was owned by the Barons of Zeller. In 1666, the castle was rebuilt after a fire. From 1670-1885, the castle was owned by the Lords of Khuenburg, who built the arcaded courtyard in 1740. From 1885-1935, the castle was owned by the Baron Wucherer family.
A fundamental restoration took place from 1975 to 1978, and the castle's arcaded courtyard was roofed over. Since then, both the elementary school and the municipal office have been located in the building. In addition, it is regularly used for castle concerts.
