Glaubitz Castle

Glaubitz was first mentioned in a document in 1271. At that time, there is said to have been a moated castle belonging to the knight Berthold von Glaubitz. After this, ownership changed in 1303 to Bernhard von Kamenz, in 1367 to Hermann von Polenz, in 1409 to Poppe von Köckeritz zu Glaubitz, in 1468 to the von Schleinitz family, in 1485 to the Truchsess family, and later to Hans Adam Freiherr von Seyfferitz. He had a new manor house and the economic buildings of the knight's estate built on the walls of the old moated castle from 1714 to 1734. After this, ownership changed to Johann Gottfried Perl. The Perl family converted the manor house into a castle in the following decades. Later, ownership changed to Theodor Bienert, who added the west wing and the castle tower from 1907-09. The Bienert family is also associated with the Bienert Mill in Freital. In 1945, the Bienert family was dispossessed and expelled by the communists.

After this, the castle served as a retirement home from 1972 to 2004.
