Yellow House Castle

The animal park, already mentioned in the 17th century, was expanded into a summer residence by Count Carl Ludwig starting in 1727. Originally, it consisted of a central small palace and four pavilions, two of which are still preserved. The hunting lodge, inaugurated in 1736 by master builder Johann Christian Lüttich, who also created the orangery in the castle, was already demolished around 1865 due to dilapidation. The complex is accessed by an avenue star. At the end of the south avenue stands the Yellow House, built in 1746, which is now a restaurant. The hunting park, accessible to visitors, is still enclosed by a wall and is home to wild boar. The southwestern pavilion, formerly the kitchen building, housed a forestry museum until 2009, which was closed after the park changed from municipal to private ownership.
