Gåsevadholm Castle is a historic estate in the Swedish province of Halland, boasting a long history. The current structure, a stately castle, was built in the mid-18th century on the foundations of an older predecessor and is now privately owned.
History+
The first documented mention of Gåsevadholm dates back to the 14th century. In 1531, the then-estate suffered destruction by fire, set by Danish troops. In 1754, Niclas Sahlgren, a prominent businessman and owner of the East India Company, acquired the property. He had the current castle built in 1757 on the remains of the previous building. In 1818, ownership passed to the Silfverschiöld family.
