Fürstenhof Castle (Paderborn)

The Fürstenhof is located in the archiepiscopal city of Paderborn directly opposite the cathedral.
Since the middle of the 14th century, this location has been a canon's curia. In the 18th century, the curia was owned by the important family of von Fürstenberg-Herdringen, which produced three Paderborn bishops. The curia bears the name of the last prince-bishop from this house, as he used it as a lodging. From 1730-1735, the building was fundamentally renovated in Baroque style by Friedrich Cristian von Fürstenberg. In 1945, the curia burned out; after its restoration from 1949-1951, it is again used as a canon's curia of the Archdiocese.
