Fronberg Castle
Fronberg Castle is an art-historically significant complex in the Fronberg district of the large district town of Schwandorf (Upper Palatinate) in Bavaria.
The complex is documented for the year 1305. At that time, the lords of the castle were enfeoffed with the Vogtland of Mappenberg for the reconstruction of the predecessor building destroyed by fire. During the Landshut War of Succession, the complex was also severely damaged by fire, and in 1594 almost half the village was destroyed by fire.
Caroline von Holnstein, who was born at Fronberg Castle in 1815, lived there with her lover and later husband Wilhelm Freiherr von Künsberg.

Complex+
Only the section of the original moat leading to the economy building remains. The Renaissance arcades in the inner courtyard of the main building of the three-wing complex are culturally and historically significant. From a building history perspective, Fronberg Castle is difficult to grasp due to the numerous extensions and alterations. It has been renovated in recent years. Today, colorful cultural programs such as theater, open-air cinema, and medieval festivals take place in the castle courtyard.
The von Breidbach-Bürresheim family carried out the last major renovation in 1992, completely renewing the roof.
