Finspång Castle
Finspång Castle is a remarkable example of a Carolinian country estate in the Swedish province of Östergötland. It rises on an elongated peninsula, surrounded by the Finspångån river, and impresses with its architectural elegance and expansive park.
History+
Construction of the main building began in 1668 and was completed in 1685. The patron was the Dutchman Louis De Geer, who had the plans of his compatriot Adriaan Dortsman implemented. Carlo Carove was primarily responsible for the stucco work. By the end of the 18th century, the complex was expanded by De Geer's descendants, including his namesake grandson, with additional wings and other structures.

Finspång Castle is located in the municipality of Finspång, in the district of Finspång, in the Swedish region of Östergötland. It is situated at an elevation of approximately 27 meters above sea level.

The castle is currently privately owned, and the buildings are not accessible to the public. However, the associated castle park, which was developed in several phases between 1690 and 1820 and transformed into an English landscape garden from 1790 onwards, is freely accessible. The park features, among other things, an Aurora Temple from 1791, a pleasure house from 1821, and an orangery.
