Fels Castle

The castle on Schulplatz is a two-winged, two-story complex from the first half of the 17th century with a gabled roof and a round corner tower in the southwest. It was presumably built on the site of a castle mentioned in a document in 1160 by Leopold and Konrad von Velze. The exterior facade shows a simple pilaster strip division in the south and west. On the courtyard side, a small oriel window on consoles rises in the south. The building has rectangular windows with stone frames and segmental arch portals. In the west, it is accessible through two round arch portals. In the southwestern corner stands a two-story, four-axis extension with a lean-to roof and round arch windows on the narrow side. The three-story corner tower is crowned by a conical roof. It is opened by rectangular windows on the ground floor, above which are round-arched and transversely oval windows. The interiors on the ground floor in the south wing partly feature cross-rib vaults. In the west wing, there are barrel vaults with lunettes divided by transverse arches.
