Erolzheim Castle
Erolzheim is first mentioned in a document issued by King Henry III on February 4, 1040. From the 12th to the 16th century, the town was owned by the Lords of Erolzheim. In 1517, Emperor Maximilian granted the Lords of Erolzheim high jurisdiction over the villages of Erolzheim and Kirchdorf.
In 1594, Konrad the Elder of Bemmelberg acquired the Lordship of Erolzheim. In 1806, Erolzheim fell to Bavaria - in 1810 it came to Württemberg. With the death of Alois Sebastian von Bemmelberg in 1826, this lineage died out. The lordship then passed to the merchant Kiesow of Augsburg.
After several further changes, in 1915, Privy Councillor Albert Konstantin von Kienlin, originally from Ulm, acquired Erolzheim Castle and manor. On September 13, 1945, the castle burned down to its foundations. In 1987, the castle was sold by the von Kienlin family and extensively renovated from 1993 to 1995 by the merchant Ernst Stobbe.
Since September 2011, the Diehl gastronomy family from Munich has been lending new splendor and vitality to the Erolzheim Castle Hotel.
