Elghammar is ready mentioned 1344 as Elyamar. The castle was built around 1400 by Magnus Plata. Later moved to the possession of Elghammar Kruse. Johan Adolf Welander lived until his death in 1804 at the castle. 1807 Field Marshal Curt bought Stedingk of the castle, he built the present castle. After his death in 1875 was inherited by his daughter Thérèse Elghammar possession. She was married to Gustave d'Otranto. Today inhabit the descendants d'Otrantes the castle.
