Drosendorf Castle

From 1278, the Drosenburg dominion was owned by the Habsburgs, who, however, always leased it out. Thus, from 1293, the Lords of Capelln, who supported the Habsburg Rudolf I in the Battle of Dürnkrut and Jedenspeigen, held the dominion as tenants. Around 1355, the Lords of Wallsee are mentioned as tenants. In 1453, the dominion passed to the Eitzinger family. Another owner was Johann Mrakesch von Noskau. In 1606, the castle came into the private possession of the Mollard family, who, however, sold it to the Counts Kurz as early as 1637. From them, it passed through marriage to Ferdinand von Sprinzenstein, then to the Lamberg-Sprinzenstein family. Since 1882, it has been owned by the Hoyos-Sprinzenstein family.

At the end of World War II, the building was severely damaged. In 1960, the castle was converted into a bed and breakfast and still partly functions as such. Since 1978, the castle has been leased to the Lower Austrian Chamber of Agricultural Workers, which operates an educational institution here.
