Dillich Castle
Dillich Castle is located on the northwestern edge of Dillich, a district of Borken in the Schwalm-Eder district in Hesse.
The castle was built in 1361 on the site of a former moated castle, whose origins are said to date back to 1335. It was owned by the Lords of Dalwigk until 1858, who demonstrably held the judicial office in Dillich as early as 1318 as landgrave-Hessian vassals.
From 1575 to 1591, the castle was fundamentally renovated as a three-story solid rectangular building with a polygonal stair tower. It was severely damaged in the Thirty Years' War, but rebuilt in a slightly altered form between 1680 and 1730. From 1906-1908, it was completely redesigned inside and out in a historicizing style.
The castle complex is privately owned. A visit is not possible.
