The Castle of Clingen+
In the 13th century, Prince Heinrich von Hohnstein built a castle in Clingen. It was located on the site of the later domain and served as the seat of the bailiff. A moat and remnants of the wall are still present. In 1356, Clingen (with Greußen) came under the rule of the Counts of Schwarzburg. In 1576, the castle was rebuilt by Count Günther XL. Today, the city administration is located in the building.
