Buchholz Castle

The manor, mentioned in 1563, was already in the possession of the von Gersdorff family in the 14th century. In 1693, the former castle burned down and was replaced by a simplified new building. In 1774, the von Gersdorff family sold the manor to Rudolph Siegismund von Carlowitz. In 1806, the current castle was built under Karl Friedrich von Hacke, who had acquired it the year before. Between 1811 and 1830, it was in the hands of Carl Wilhelm von Emmerich. After 1895, only bourgeois owners were known. Eduard Tillgner acquired the castle in 1906 and had alterations made. As a result of inflation, large parts of the agricultural land were sold in the following years. Tillgner's widow was dispossessed in 1945, and the castle was rebuilt again. Part of the exterior design was lost in the process. The castle was used for residential purposes, as a kindergarten, and by the municipal administration. Even today, it is still partially inhabited.
