Böddensell Castle

The castle was built in 1733 by Jakob Karl Schenck von Flechtingen. It is located in the middle of a park that surrounds the building on three sides. It is a baroque two-story rubble stone building, supplemented by bricks and sandstone surrounds for windows and doors. The facade is divided into fourteen irregular axes. The main entrance is designed in portico form and bears the construction date 1733. A half-timbered staircase adjoins the rear facade. The hall is laid with sandstone slabs, and a wide staircase with a balustrade leads to the upper floor. Inside the building there is also a two-bay chapel room with cross-rib vaults. In 1945, the owners were expropriated by the communists. In 2001, the building was extensively restored.
