Bissendorf Castle

With the establishment of the Amtsvogtei around 1560, the residence of the Amtsvogt was built, today the registry office, one of the most beautiful secular buildings in Wedemark, to which a west wing was added in 1611. Nearby stands the so-called Kavaliershaus, which was built around 1620/1621 and today houses the Richard Brandt Museum. Both buildings display late Renaissance ornamentation.

The Amtsvogt's Residence (Registry Office)

The Amtsvogt's residence, now the registry office, is a prime example of late Renaissance architecture. Its intricate facade and well-preserved structure offer a glimpse into the architectural styles prevalent in the early 17th century. The addition of the west wing in 1611 further enhanced its grandeur and functionality.

The Kavaliershaus (Richard Brandt Museum)

Built shortly after the Amtsvogt's residence, the Kavaliershaus complements the ensemble with its similar architectural style. Originally serving an unknown purpose, it now proudly hosts the Richard Brandt Museum, preserving local history and culture within its historic walls. The building's construction around 1620/1621 places it firmly within the late Renaissance period, evident in its decorative elements.
