Beethovenhaus Castle

The so-called Beethovenhaus – the former Trautingerhof – is a cubic building with a mansard hip roof, erected in the 18th century and presumably having a core from the 16th century. The ground floor has cross-rib vaults. The elaborate Neoclassical fittings and furnishings were created around 1800 or in the early 19th century. These include wallpaper with romantic landscape paintings, classicizing architectures, and pseudo-architectural frames. The name of the building does not refer to the composer Ludwig van Beethoven, but to his brother Johann, who acquired the former Trautingerhof along with the castle in 1820.
