Baruth Castle
Baruth Castle is a castle in Baruth/Mark in the Teltow-Fläming district. It was built in the 17th century (after 1671). At the beginning of the 19th century, it was extended with an annex to the east, and in 1912/13 to the west. In 1838, the park was designed according to a plan by Peter Joseph Lenné.
In September 2008, the Brandenburg State Government's Ministry of Environment decided to renovate the castle for one million Euros. A European Youth, Training and Meeting Centre is planned to move in. Previously, the family of the Counts of Solms-Baruth carried out restoration work.
On January 19, 2012, a major fire destroyed a large part of the almost completely renovated castle. It is in danger of collapsing.
